After a decade of walking, the trees around either side of Yakate thinned out. But this time, the sky wasn't bright and cheery as he expected it to be; it was raining. Heavily. Wondering why he couldn't feel the rain in the forest, he hesitantly took a few steps forward. The ground was wet and damp, but by the distinct 'thud' noise he heard with each step, he could tell that there was a stone floor. Tossing his long, wet, golden hair away from the front of his face, he strutted forward with an easy pace. He was, after all, a wanderer now; why not visit a strangely foreboding place that possibly housed many dangers?

And yet, even though he was pretty sure nothing dangerous was here, he felt odd. He suddenly felt as if he had a reason for coming here. As if... something were calling out to him. Whether it was a true feeling, or merely his mental folly, he couldn't tell. The constant dripping noise of the rain falling all over him wouldn't let him concentrate; searching for some kind of shelter, he snuggled down under a thick cloth; in what must have once been a shop. Shaking himself clean of the rain, his mind finally began thinking straight.

This was no random place. There were no people here. But the evil aura emanating from each inch of the place bespoke of a time when many powerful shinobi lived here . Evil shinobi. What was this village called?

... The rain was tell-tale.

He was now in Amegakure. A once great village, destroyed long ago. This fact had a powerful impact on Yakate; he felt less foolhardy, and more serious. And the first thing he realized, with his mind anew...

Was his horribly groaning stomach.

He scavenged for food inside the ruined houses fruitlessly; eventually, he had been reduced to standing in the middle of the rain and opening his mouth wide, letting the water trickle down his throat. This might seem quite troublesome and useless, but to Yakate, a few minutes of water-catching was quite the meal. Wiping his aching lips clean, he mentally prepared himself for a journey. A journey through Rain... literally.

The remains of the village were a sad sight indeed. All that was missing from it was corpses; there were no traces of living organisms in the place. But despite it, Yakate could still feel a strong source of chakra somewhere... Somewhere far away. That belief was what drove him on forward; as well as the belief that somewhere nearby, a feast was awaiting him.

...

Time passed for Yakate dreamily; all he did was walk and walk, and grumble and moan to himself, complacent about the non-existent feast. The rain never ceased, and the wet drops made him start sneezing; indeed, if anything, the rain had only started dripping harder. The journey seemed more and more futile by each passing second. Yet, Yakate was determined to find the source of the strange chakra source.

There was a reason for his bigotry. 4 years in a dull village like Mystery had been horrible to his health; to his adventurous, reckless side, it acted as a depressant. Coming out of that dungeon after so long seemed to have rekindled the young, burning flame in his heart. All he desired was adventure now, or at least something that would be exciting. Something he had been missing out in Shoutakugakure. And, of course, a marvelous feast to ease his churning stomach.

... Crack.

Rumble... rumble...

...?

Suddenly, an entire two-story building collapsed to his left. His instinct pulled him rolling off to his right, sending his already wet body splashing into a puddle. Rubble and smoke rose in the air where the building had fallen; all too soon, everything was quiet. Quiet, ignoring the continuous dripping of the rain; after spending so many hours in Rain village, the pitter-patter becomes habitual.

Getting back to his feet took no effort, but something else had just entered his stream of thought. Mere rain could not have taken down that healthy building beside him. Were there other creatures still abiding in the Ruined Village of Rain? ...

He took a moment to pause, regaining his previous momentum; that of a lavish feast waiting for him at the end. Freshening up with a little exercises (The rain seemed to freeze you in your tracks), Yakate resumed the cold road into Rain, delving deeper into the destructive figures, availing himself to the more architectural side of Ame no Kuni.

Yet oddly, the deeper he walked, the stronger was the feeling that someone else was there. Someone with a powerful chakra, that seemed to be suppressed because of the distance between Yakate and him. Him? ... What was there to say that it wasn't a her? Or even... not human at all...?

At once, all his suspicions and reckonings were confirmed, in a manner he had never expected. A deafening din filled his ears, forcing him to buckle down his knees and cover his ears with his hands. He couldn't see what was going on; his eyes were squished shut. What was really happening was this.

As soon as Yakate crossed the 'threshold' of the home of the 'beast', the source of the chakra was stimulated. Having not been near any living being for so long, the Source was drawn to Yakate. And because it was buried so deep beneath the debris of the once grand Rain Village, it blasted apart its grave - it was this very noise that caused Yakate to cower like a little girl. The din continued for about a minute (The Source had been buried very, very deep). And finally...

Finally, the sound stopped. But now, there was something else to fear. The massive amounts of chakra that were being emitted by the Source seemed to drain away all his courage; he could not open his eyes. It was a power unlike any he felt; it far surpassed his own, and he was quit honestly a powerful shinobi. And this event was what opened up his heart back to its little, young, adventurous side. Opened it up to his reckless, brave side.

Opened up his eyes.

What he saw was truly a sight to behold. An entity, not much taller or wider than him in dimensions, was right in front of him. The frightening part about him was that the entire beast was... blue. No, his body wasn't blue - he was an entity made of pure chakra. However, blue wasn't all Yakate could see; there was a massive sword hanging from his back, latched onto, apparently, nothing. It was this beast that was releasing so much chakra - this beast, that had made him feel so uneasy all the way here.

He could do naught but stare at it in awe.
