Away from the accursed village, Yakate Tsuno was embracing the sunlight which came with the sun. The place, when looked from the spot he was at, looked beautiful. It was almost as if the two mountain ranges cast an illusion upon the world; the valley of Shoutakugakure was serene in reality. When viewed from a cliff high up on one of the mountains in the Death Mountains.

What was interesting about the mountains was that it was full of skeletons. Skeletons of animals, and bones of humans. They had all died coincidentally; their deaths gave rise to the superstition that no one could cross Death Mountains alive. They were wrong. All you needed was to know the Secret Path. And it was that Path which had led Yakate where he was; embracing the scene of Okugi no Riku with all the beauty of sunset.

And yet, when his eyes cast away from the sun and down on the village, it looked as gloomy as ever. Murky swamps were all about it, as were dirty brown trees with dying leaves. It was as if a miasma had descended from the mountains and engulfed the village with poison; indeed, the village looked deserted from high up. But it wasn't. It was the prime village for mercenaries and evil villains. And why was Yakate there?

That was a good question; the question that had made Yakate go up all the way into the mountains to find an answer to. The peace and quiet of the Death Mountains was heavenly compared to that of the Living Mountains; what with all it's life. Seeking that peace and quiet, Yakate had lied down, his hands on his back, upon a rocky cliff. His favorite spot to be in in 2 years. And that was how he found himself rambling in his mind about the geography of Okugi no Riku.

Finding his task void of all interest, he closed his eyes once more, letting himself be floated away by his chains of thought. Thought that consisted of... flying sand and explosive clay. And then a dark, long tunnel. With no end. And the next moment his mind flew off to a brothel, with girls more than pleased to serve his desires. Then back it went all of a sudden to a view of his sister, Asako. Where was she? Where was he? Either one of them was not in the right place...

After living in the Mystery Village for seventeen years, Aya had only been to the Death mountains for about three times; and only at times when she was very depressed or angry and despite its appearance--full of decay--the mountains never failed to calm down Aya. Ironic much? The first time that led her to go there was her parents' unfortunate death... She got confused, and suicidal. Aya had always known the Secret Path. Her parents had never allowed her to go there. But on that day, she could not resist. Thus, her first arrival at the Death Mountains. Somehow, after crying there on that very day, she felt serene. Therefore, whenever she became upset, angry or negative, she always go there.

And today, she felt awkward. Aya wanted to walk down her memory lane, and found out that the Death Mountains was the right place to do so. Her memories of her beloved mother and father; how her mother taught her about fine arts and how her father was always strict on her. It was only recently that she realized that their teaching was as precious as any treasure... or even more.

Reaching the top of the mountains without any effort, Aya sighed heavily. She did not expect to find anyone there. The serenity of the Death Mountains distracted Aya from any sort of sense of the surroundings. Looking up at the sky and the setting of the sun, Aya breathed heavily and sighed again. She was wearing a dress, that touched her knee, and of the purple color.

Aya could feel someone was up there on the mountains, but she did not bother to take notice because she was already lost in her own thoughts and she did not care. After finding the cleanest spot, not far away from the stranger, she sat down, pulling her knees up to her chest, and started thinking about her parents...

His thoughts trailed into more serious chains; the well-being of Sunagakure, whether the village was still alive somewhere, beneath the vast sand dunes of the desert. Whether he would ever return to the village and take back his position as the Kage of the place. Or whether he'd spend his entire life in this odd new village; a damp, gloomy village of swamps and mountains and mercenaries that trailed the streets, only eager to rip your throat out.

And almost ironically, his past skills kicked in. He had been trained to track even faint chakra levels in the immediate area; and right now, he sensed one which was like fresh meat to a dog. Aya was here. Aya Hanami; a.k.a. the Princess of Shoutakugakure. That was what he called her. She was a beautiful, elegant, graceful; yet clumsy sometimes, and forgetful. But her bad traits added to her good one: It made her cuter to an epic degree. And this was the Kazekage we're talking about; if he liked a woman, that woman was worth entire planets and galaxies.

He jumped up on his feet, tumbling a little on the rough rocks. Despite his keen senses, he had to guess where exactly Aya was. That would be a time-consuming task. If he wasn't Yakate, that is. Yakate had a different way of finding things. Cupping his hands over his mouth, he said in a loud, unnaturally powerful voice:

Oh, Princess!

Hearinng someone shouting out, Aya was very surprised. She did not know she was being called because no one called her "Princess". Turning her head, she found out it was Yakate, the mysterious man who arrived from nowhere. She didn't know why he has been calling her "Princess". Again, it was a mystery to her. However, she had people talking about him sometimes. That he was only 17 years old, even though he looked older to her and that he was the Kazekage, and he didn't look like one. She respected him, however, since he's older than her. Not expecting anyone, she was embarrassed to be found by anyone. Blushing:

Oh... Yaka-kun...

Aya couldn't stay without smiling to anyone for long, so she smiled warmly to him.

There she was; the beautiful angel that God has sent from the heavens above to beautify the murky village of swamps. Her glorious smile seemed to make the grim mood of the mountains seem lovely. Her petite figure, short, cute hair, and fair skin; her pink cheeks, short form, and toy-like voice... How could anyone not love something so dear and pretty? For almost half a minute he just stared at her beauty; her beautiful face with it's wonderful lips curved in a smile towards him. He couldn't see the dark, stony background behind her; he could only see hearts sprouting on either side of her, upon a golden, sunny background. That was what beautified her face; that was Yakate saw when what he really was seeing was a blushing, smiling girl in the heights of a mountain.

He took several long strides towards her, and placed both his arms on her shoulders; not caring if she would take that as in intrusion of her privacy. He rubbed her firmly, and spoke with a less hearty, more caring voice:

My Princess, what on Earth are you doing here?

He knew that his voice sounded as if he was mocking her. He was fully aware that she might slap the senses out of him for what he was doing with his hands. But to him; this was what he called 'caring'. Caring for someone. Caring for a dear little princess who looked like she lost her way going up the mountains. He felt like a guardian to Aya; her personal bodyguard. He would protect her from all harm. As he thought so, he made up his mind to follow Aya everywhere she went until he was sure she'd be safe.

She was utterly surprised by his action; rubbing her firmly. Normally, she would struggle but something wasn't allowing her. His look, the sparkle in his eyes, his face full of warmth, warmth given to her by him--all prevented her from shaking and running away. Instead, she just stared at him, unconscious of what he had just said. Speechless, she stayed, and blushing even more. Only after a while, she moved a little, and uttered:

I'm no princess, Yaka-kun, let alone anybody's. I've been here before, this place just seemed to soothe me when I'm depressed. That's why I'm here...

He was amused at the way she blushed and stuttered before talking. Her small, frail hands were clutched at her sides, and her palms were red. The same shade of red was on her cheeks; that was how hard she was blushing. He was pleased with the impression he left on her, although slightly conscious of invading her privacy and security. This was only a faint feeling though; he liked this girl too much.

Ever since he had realized that Aya was here on this mountain, the expression on his face changed entirely. It was depressed, demure; he looked more or less like an evil, silent demon. Now, anyone would think that Yakate was an affable person; someone you'd love to talk with. Someone who was friendly and cheerful, almost annoyingly so. And in front of Aya, never had he shed that dark face of his. For her, his cheer was at its utmost. And it was this good mood that drove him to entertain himself a little.

But from what may it soothe you from, Princess? What exactly are you depressed for?

With his small talk, his hands had left her shoulders. He hadn't stepped backward though; he moved a nudge forward. He heated up the palms of his hands to a terrifying extent, and it was these fiery hot, red hands that he placed on Aya's back; the part of her back directly opposite her stomach. He touched her the moment he had finished speaking; and if his knowledge of psychology wasn't failing him, Aya would, by reflex, thrust herself towards him to get away from the heat. And it was precisely this that he wanted. To feel her hugging arms around him, and her face squashed against him chest. Her blushing, blushing face.

To Aya, Yakate seemed cheerful, friendly and innocuous. Having her arms clutched on by him, she could feel no emotion rather than shyness. All the depression she felt before coming onto the mountain disappeared. Even more so after hearing his question. She had no answer. She was going to refuse to answer but she thought it was rude. Therefore, she thought of an excuse at the top of her head--she had to buy a book before the shop closes. He was a stranger after all.

However, before she could answer, she felt something burning behind her back that made her shriek and push herself towards him. Into his chest, which was cooler than the heat at her back. She did not know what the hot fiery thing was because all she knew was that her arms were around his waist, hugging him. Of course, blood ran rapidly through her cheeks, making her red and surprised that she could not utter a word.

The soft, fluffy bosom of a full fledged women met his thick chest. And with it followed the tender touch of a girl, the soft cheeks of a teenager, and the grip of a woman in sheer terror and fright. In a second, that right turned into bashfulness; she was blushing fiercely. Her arms were around his waist, and she was showing no intention of taking it away. Her face was pressed sideways against his chest; oh God, this was the feeling he had been waiting his whole life for.

But what was shocking was that even Yakate was surprised. Even he, who had himself caused her to hug him this way, was taken aback. His hands had cooled off now, but he was still afraid to touch her. Her act of weakness and womanly submission made him feel... made him feel... he couldn't quite explain it. But it was a good feeling.

Slowly, he placed his hands onto her soft tuft of hair. He pressed her cheeks harder against his chest; he loved the feeling of having someone weaker than himself looking to him for support. It was a great feeling. He wanted to stay stuck in the position forever.
