Mission: Snow Angels

Yukie exited the lodge after confirming her mission. She was supposed to make snow angels with a man's daughter. If it was to satisfy her daughter so she will stop or just plainly for company, she didn't know. She didn't bother to ask, though, since it was her mission and nothing else. When she was still with her mother and father, there were some times where she would make snow angels, but that was some time back. When she walked for a while, she found the daughter and crouched down, looking at the little girl with a soft smile.

"This time... this time only, I will need to show my more desirable side..."

She took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly to relax herself. The girl was looking at her awkwardly, especially at her swords. She thought that maybe the child was being threatened by her appearance. To remove that insecurity, she dropped the swords on the ground. When she did that, she saw the girl smile slightly and then she nodded in response.

"... Hey there... You seem to like snow angels, do you mind if I join you...?"

The little girl looked at her for a while, seemingly inspecting her from head to toe. After that, the girl smiled and shook her head. There wasn't that much need for introductions, she seemed to be accepted quickly. She made sure in her mind that she will never act like that towards anyone again unless she needs to. Besides, all that she was doing right now was an act to gain the trust of the little girl, knowing how fragile and sensitive they can be. She knew well about that.

She watched as the little girl laid down on the snow, a few of the bits that flew off from the impact of the child falling back flying towards her face. She blocked it with her hand before it can hit her face. The little girl then started moving her arms and legs, making an angel-shaped mark on the snow. Yukie's face suddenly turned somewhat blank when she thought all about it. Some of her memories returned when she was having that much fun with her mother. The little girl giggling sent a slight chill down her spine as the memories run vividly through her mind.

"... Get a hold of yourself..."

It was all that she can think about, trying not to let her emotions get the best of her. When she regained her composure, she closed her eyes and fell back a few feet beside the girl with her arms and legs spread. The snow was cold but it cushioned her well. When she opened her eyes slowly, she saw the blue sky above her and it seemed to calm her down really well. She looked to her side and there was the little girl having the time of her life making snow angels. She chuckled at the thought and then began to join the little girl in her fun, moving her arms and legs as well to make that angel shape on the snow.

"... I swear this is the last time I'm doing this..."

It was somewhat unusual. For something so childish and somewhat embarrassing for her to do, she was actually having a little fun. All her worries seemed to escape her at that time and she was in her own little world without having much care. With her eyes closed, she kept moving, feeling the cold snow beneath her and feeling the warm sun on her face. In her mind, she imagined those good old times when she was out in the snow with her mother watching her from the side. After a while, she felt someone tapping her shoulder. When she opened her eyes and stopped, she saw the little girl standing beside her head, pointing towards the lodge. It seems like it was time for her to leave. For a moment there, she didn't know how fast time went by.

"... Did you want to go back to your parents now...?"

The girl nodded and pointed to the lodge again. Yukie stood up and dusted the snow off her back. Her clothes got somewhat damp because of the melted snow. She picked up her swords and now the little girl seemed to be more comfortable seeing her even with her weapons. In fact, the little girl seemed to be grinning at her. She wondered if the child watched her being so... childish the whole time. The thought made her slightly embarrassed so she quickly escorted the girl back to the lodged and waved her goodbye, seeing her father pick her up and thank her for spending time with her daughter. She nodded in response and went away to report her mission.
